St Philips RC Primary School

St Philips RC Primary School in Salford is a larger than average Roman Catholic Primary School serving the Servite parish of Our Lady of Dolours.

As they describe on their website…

“We enjoy close links with our parish and are proud to be part of a global Servite community.

At St. Philip's, we deliver a vibrant and creative curriculum in a stimulating Christian environment. We want children to develop lively and enquiring minds capable of independent thought. We strive to ensure that all pupils reach their true potential and grow in the image and likeness of God. We achieve this by teaching a broad and balanced curriculum and forging close partnerships between home, school and
parish”.

School Photographer In Manchester

The Head Teacher contacted me as a School Photographer Manchester, to create a library of images for the school website and prospectus. The brief was to spend a couple of days at the school, capturing the daily life of the staff and pupils, covering as many lessons and activities as possible in the timescale. I was busy! I love working as a School Photographer Manchester though, and have produced work for several academies and private schools in the North West. At the time of writing I have four school projects ‘going through’ for Thrive CE Academy Trust. We photographed the children during the second week of term in September, allowing them time to settle in, and use the glorious weather. With the sunshine beating down (well, it was warm…) I got to produce a great Library of images for the school as a School Photographer Manchester. And…I got to meet one of my Manchester City (and Everton) heroes on one of the days. The legendary Neil Pointon, now a freelance schools coach. I used to watch him from the main stand at Maine Road, partnered alongside Colin Hendry. Great days indeed!

School Website Photography

This project, producing photography as a School Photographer Manchester for St Philips’ website was great fun. As I say, we kept busy, working almost flat-out from 9am to around 4pm each day. I am really pleased with the results, most of which will stand the test of time for the school. A great investment, and a great library of photos for St Philips to use for a good while yet. As a School Photographer Manchester it was great being part of the school for the sessions, seeing how things worked, the staff teaching, the PE lessons, arts and crafts….even the fantastic ‘Dinner Ladies’ working with military precision feeding all those hungry mouths…smiling as they went. The fully registered with OFSTED & Local Government After School Club SKIPS runs a brilliant pre and post school service too for child care for all the busy parents. All in all, a great community, and great to photograph.

You can see how they have used my images from my School Photographer Manchester sessions here and here for example.

School Prospectus Photography

Part of the sessions was to produce images for the school prospectus. My brief was to just do my thing, and shoot naturally. Little of the shoot was set up in particular. I literally spent around 20-30 mins with each class as a School Photographer Manchester, photographing the children live, with the odd group hug and thumbs up from my subject, everything looks natural, and fun…

You can see the prospectus below, and what an uplifting ‘feel’ it has, promoting the school to parents and potential admissions. My job as a School Photographer Manchester was complete. Hard work, but rewarding in the end. A bit like teaching really…

Linked In Headshots

The headshots were to be featured as Linked In profile photos too, so needed to be composed with that in mind. As a Branding Photographer Manchester, I made sure each image would work as a multi-functional piece of work. Client seems happy with them at least! On some images, I deliberately left dead, or negative space on one side to allow for copy or graphics to be superimposed. My Branding Photographer Manchester role was to try to get as many images with this option, or be able to be cropped for social media to convey a different message. I work with Hiring Hub quite a lot, and they just trust me to do my thing as their Branding Photographer Manchester, creating photos for their website and social media campaigns.
